Brael

It’s a warm pleasure to introduce you to the head tingling and cranial manipulating music of Brael.  Described by Boomkat as “dispensing incredibly warm, instantly lovable acoustic-electronica,” Brael has become know for their uncanny and slow-handed ability to unleash gorgeously lush and melodically wavering pop lullabies of the highest caliber.

Since their high school days, Steve Dannemiller and Joachim Hero, aka Brael, have been exploring the outer reaches of psychedelic electro-acoustic music.  In the earlier days of Brael, Dannemiller describes being fueled by the sounds of Skinny Puppy, Download, and Autechre. However, this may be a misleading comparison when one listens to the duo’s actual output.  Perhaps better compared to artists such as Sigur Rós, Múm, and Boards of Canada, Brael has ventured into making music based on ethereal but catchy melodies and experimental but accessible sonic textures.

Throughout their work, the two have used the least equipment necessary to generate the craziest sonic montages possible. While their current sound draws from a wide range of previous musical projects, it is their work as rock-trio Mostly Harmless, joined by longtime friend and drummer Matt Stouppe, that has infused Brael with a developed sense of musicality and structure.

This effort lead to their first full-length album, which appeared on the always-incredible Mobeer label.  Since their inception, Brael has always sought to maintain musical accessibility while continuing to explore experimental aural possibilities.  Soon you will agree with each careful listen to their music that your brain will comfortably expand as your most internal and cherished memories gain the soundtrack they have always been waiting for.
